Worldbuilding is my favourite exchange of the year, a chance to engage in my favourite pastime of noodling about how worlds would and do work and to see how other people think worlds would and do work. This year I have chosen to stick to my perennial world building fandom of Harry Potter and to Original Worlds. While, I like everyone have opinions about how things would work I welcome works that contradict these ideas within the DNWs I have provided. Thank you for writing for me, I hope this letter is helpful.

Unhappy and ambiguous endings
Major character death
Works focused on women and their relationships with other women whether those be romantic, antagonistic or friendly
Similar levels of respect and affection between people in romantic relationships. If they both hate or disrespect each other it’s awesome but when one party respects/likes the other and other party disrespects/dislikes them it’s squicky to me.
Main or POV characters to be in their late twenties at least.
Fantasy worlds based on areas other than the USA or medieval Western Europe
Settings other than the USA
Lucious descriptions of places that engage with all the senses or paint a vivid picture

While I have requested any or no character(s) I would prefer that any work was not written from Harry's POV, especially anything that changes the perspective of what we see in canon.
- Adult and child social care in Wizarding Britain - In canon we see Harry in an unsafe family situation, Luna and her father obviously struggling after her mother's death, care for Neville's parents seems to be limited to permanent hospitalisation when they don't seem in need of medical care, and Arthur is called to deal with Moody when they obviously think he is mentally ill, with this in mind I would be interested in seeing an exploration of adult and child family care within Wizarding Britain. Is there any support for Wizarding families who are struggling from the Ministry or is all support piecemeal provision by charities? How has the provision of support changed through the years?
- Divergence of Wizarding fashion from Muggle fashion - From Harry's first interactions with the Wizarding world we are told that Witches and Wizards are strangely dressed to Muggle eyes, which is not a surprise given that the Wizarding World has been a parallel but separate society for 300 years, but not how they differ. So how did Wizarding fashion diverge from Muggle fashion? Did the Wizarding world have a throwback to tenth century fashion or what they thought tenth century fashions look like when the Statute of Secrecy was enacted? Do they have regular throwbacks when popular politics is on a traditionalist bent? With strange, to us, materials like dragon leather used in Wizarding clothing how loud and garish are Wizarding fashions? Are stays still the preferred method of bust support and shaping? In which case what are they using as boning? How much like this does Wizarding dress still look like?

- Education funding in Wizarding Britain - How is education funded in the Wizarding World? Do students pay fees for Hogwarts? If they do, are there hardship grants of scholarships? If they don't, how is Hogwarts funded? By the Ministry? Charitable donations?
- Post-NEWTs education and training excluding possible universities - If we assume that Hogwarts is the only school in Wizarding Britain and most eligible students attend, then it is difficult to justify a university for just the UK, although I would be open to a European Wizarding university, and this is seems to be supported by canon; so what other specialist higher education and training are available? Is there a formalised apprentice system? Something closer to modern CPD systems? A completely informal nod that the trainee is ready to start working without supervision?
- Poverty and government/charity support in Wizarding Britain - At the time of the Statute of Secrecy, support of the poor in England was subject to the Poor Relief Act of 1662 where Poor Relief was provided by the Parish the poor person was registered to. With the Statute of Secrecy and the Wizarding community hiding from their Muggle neighbours, their registration with a Muggle Parish would likely lapse and with it their eligibility to Poor Relief, what, if anything, replaced it? Does the Ministry still provide Poor Relief, and if it does how has it changed from it's form in 1692? Is it a matter of charitable support only available to worthy poor? How does your blood status affect your eligibility? Or being a werewolf? Do poor Wizards have Muggle records to obtain Muggle benefits?

I love sci-fi that focuses on minority and female characters but I prefer for their race, gender, or sexuality not to be the main focus of the work. I like alien species to feel distinctly alien in their societies, approach to life and physical forms rather than humans with pointy ears.
- Early Human-Alien Communications and Interspecies Communication and Language - I've joined these to into one section because they feel very related to me, I'm a linguistic geek who loves to explore the idea of communication between very disparate species and how species morphologies would affect their communication methods.
- Do the aliens communicate via sound or do they have another means of close communication that they developed in to an advanced communication method? Do they find speech disgusting? How do humans adapt to the methods of communication?
- What are the initial miscommunications and how disastrous are they? How long does is take us to realise the someone is trying to talk to us?
- How much technology is needed to mediate communication between different species? What happens when that technology fails?
- Interaction between AI and biological systems - As AI systems develop, for me one of the most interesting parts is how they would interact with biological systems, from systems as small as bacteria to as large as the planet. What are the unintended consequences? Do the local corvids learn how to fuck with the security AI? Is there a permanent battle between hunting cats wanting to stalk the local wildlife in piece and the security AI trying to prevent predation?
- Living inside a sapient being - The idea of a sapient spaceship or space station is simultaneously incredibly cool and incredibly creepy whether it is sapient because of an advanced and fully integrated AI system or you are living in a alien species. What are the adjustments you have to make when your home has opinions about how it is used and what you do in it? What is it like being constantly watched and surrounded by another intelligent person?

I nominated and requested catgirls because they're a particular favourite fantasy race for me but I am open to any porn-logic races you can think of. I'm the type of person who gets distracted during omegaverse fic by wondering how the genetics work and what are the laws that govern this, so this is an invitation to get in to all the nitty gritty distractions to worldbuilding where the reason should be it's hot that get in the way of writing your smut normally.

I love fantasy and sci-fi stories set in matriarchies whether they are about human or non-human societies. With human societies I love alternate histories but prefer if the reason for a matriarchal society developing rather than a patriarchal society is not due to men being weaken or a smaller population. One of my favourite things in matriarchal worldbuilding is seeing how the world might change if it was built around a default woman rather than a default man.
- Is the private sphere considered less important as it is in our society?
- Who does the majority of childcare and education? Is it a lower status task left to men? A higher status task taken by older women with experience they can pass on to their pupils?
- What are the gender stereotypes in this society? Are they similar to ours but with what is seen as positive flipped or do they differ? Are men seen as too aggressive, too fast to make up their minds, to instinctual to be relied on?
- Most laws in our society start with assumption of a man as the active participant and often have historically subsumed women under men, is this true in reverse? How are criminals treated? Are they tried? In front of a Judge and Jury of their peers, a panel of judges, a group of senior and respected women within their communities, or some other method? What are significant crimes within this world?
- What is the political system? Adversarial or cooperative? Is some form of capitalism inevitable for an advanced society, or is this society communist, socialist, or some other economic system?
- The religions in our world exist in a large part to support the patriarchy and to declare it the natural god intended way, is this true in a matriarchy? Are dominant faiths of this world monotheistic, centred around a creator mother, like ours are around a creator father?
